Picnics are a fun way to connect with your family and are so much fun!! We LOVE picnics! We try to go on a picnic several times a year, so we pack up what seems like half of our refrigerator and head out to one of our favorite Glasgow picnic spots. Sometimes deciding on the picnic "food" is more of a challenge then actually picking a picnic spot especially since Glasgow has so many beautiful picnic areas.
Since Glasgow has so many great picnic spots to choose from, here’s my family’s list of top three picnic spots:
#1: Barren River Lake State Resort Park
Two picnic areas are located toward the marina with picnic tables and grills provided. This park offers trails, playgrounds and grill areas to cook out with your family. There are several shelters that you can rent, contact the park for more information.
We love to walk the trails and play on the playground. You can spend hours here just hanging out with your family.
#2: Beaver Trail Park
Two picnic areas, one at the front of the park with a shelter and restrooms and the other is by the playground which is also covered. You can also rent these for parties, contact Glasgow Parks & Recreation for more information. This park offers a playground, trails and a horseshoe pit area.
We love to walk the paved trail, play on the playground and we also will bring frisbees and/or balls to play games together. You can also bring your bikes or scooters to ride around on the paved trail, so much fun to be had at this park.
#3: Weldon Park
Picnic area is located on the right hand side as soon as you pull into the park which is covered. This park offers trails, playground, basketball area and a dog park. You can rent this shelter for a party as well, contact Glasgow Parks & Recreation for more information.
We love to walk the trails, play on the playground and sometimes take the dogs for some play time as well.
That’s my family’s list, but I bet your family has their own favorite picnic spots! I’d love to know where they are. Email me at Sherryb@macaronikid.com.
Have a great time on your picnic adventure, and remember...don’t forget the napkins!
